Celebrating Achievements: Recap of the International Big Brains Spelling Bee Competition Season 2

Nessa Care Foundation extends heartfelt gratitude to our well-wishers and sponsors as we proudly present a comprehensive report on the successful conclusion of the International Big Brains Spelling Bee Competition (IBBSBC) Season 2. This captivating event took place on November 11, 2023, at the NAF Conference Centre in Abuja, boasting a remarkable turnout with a hall capacity of 1000.

Distinguished Panel of Judges:

The competition was graced by a distinguished panel of judges, including Mrs. Favour Eden-Nse, Representative of the Director Quality Assurance, FCT Education Secretariat; Mr. Linus Okorie; Mrs. Onyinyechi Etusi; Salvy Richards, and the Season 1 winner, Aniefiok Isaac. Together, they skillfully pronounced words for the 355 junior spellers, aged between 7 and 12 years, ensuring an interactive and friendly atmosphere, as well as a fair competition.

Dignitaries in Attendance:

The grand event was honored by the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Arc Sonny Echono OON, Executive Secretary of TETFUND; representatives from the Ministry of Education; Ministry of Women Affairs; United Nations observers, and senatorial representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Culmination:

As the clock struck 4 pm, the culmination of the event brought forth a moment of triumph for Rashidat Oyiza Ibrahim from Hopeland International School, Abuja. Securing the first position, she was awarded a scholarship cash prize of three hundred thousand naira (#300,000). Following closely were Edewor Jayden Ehime and Oladeinde Ayomide David from Benford International School, claiming the second and third positions. They received scholarship cash prizes of two hundred thousand naira (#200,000) and one hundred thousand naira (#100,000) respectively.

Inclusive Excellence:

Nessa Care Foundation remains committed to inclusivity and education accessibility. In a commendable gesture, children from Jabi School for the Blind were included in the competition, each receiving an education fund of fifty thousand naira (#50,000), regardless of their position.
